At MMG, our video production team doesn’t always wait for you to come to us. The entrepreneurial spirit flows through our company like an ice-cold, refreshing drink at your favorite brewery. What’s yours? Ours is SanTan, located in beautiful downtown Chandler. This brewery-turned-sports bar features several delicious beverages, including their own Single Malt Whiskey, Sacred Stave.
Smoke, Whiskey, Action
Our video production team was looking to flex their creative muscles and create a product video from scratch using SanTan’s whiskey as inspiration. Our Director of Digital Strategy, Brian Heiden, wanted to capture a warm, Western feeling that would allow the audience to feel the heat.
To get the vibe right, he included elements of smoke and fire by placing a monitor behind the branded bottle with blazing flames playing on a loop. Then, he brought in a fog machine to capture the smoke element. Once the video was shot, our post-production team got to editing. They darkened the mood, added the sound of crackling embers, and layered on a cowboy-inspired soundtrack to spark that Americana feel.
Once the video was complete, we shared the final cut with SanTan’s team. They were thoroughly impressed with how quickly we captured their brand with the limited information we had.
The enthusiastic feedback from our neighborhood brewery inspired our video production team to create another product video. However, this time, they wanted to evoke the opposite of warmth: chill.
Ice, Ice, Baby
Platinum Vape offers the finest collection of cannabis products, carefully curated to meet the needs and preferences of customers and patients. To create the relaxed and natural sensation Heiden sought, he turned to a local Hawaiian Ice business.
On the day of the shoot, Heiden brought 15 pounds of smooth, shaved ice to MMG Studios. The video team quickly learned that they needed gloves when handling ice. They went through numerous rounds of trial and error before placing the prop on the table to get the perfect shot.
The team used a blow dryer to melt the ice in real time. In post-production, they reversed the melting to produce the rising effect you see in the video, and tranquil music was added to amplify the pure, earthy aesthetic.
Voilà! Another sensational product video was born.
